INDEPENDENT VERIFICATION AND VALIDATION (IV&V)

Knightfork’s approach to providing IV&V services leverage the resources, practices, and disciplines in its program management office (PMO). The PMO provides definition for the IV&V effort, and enables program-wide coordination, monitoring, and tracking control. Following a task order issuance, Knightfork performs a quick start assessment to verify the baseline picture of the system requirements, goals, objectives, and priorities at all levels mapped to the customer’s program.

Process managed IV&V activities provide assurance of adherence to documented standards and improvement toward best practices, such as:

  • Review of documented processes for completeness and correctness
  • Performance of quality assurance (QA) process audits and configuration audits to verify compliance, i.e., evaluate “performed” versus “documented”
  • Performance of quality assurance (QA) process audits and configuration audits to verify compliance, i.e., evaluate “performed” versus “documented”
  • Develop or evaluate action plans for correction of defects and non-conformances

Project IV&V activities provide comprehensive, independent, and mature oversight of the project:

  • Provide oversight of the monitoring and control of project deliverables, progress, and cost
  • Evaluate policies, plans, and procedures for work products related to project management such as project management plans, work breakdown structures, integrated management schedule and plan, risk management plans, cost/earned value management plans, quality assurance plans, and configuration management plans
  • Analyze and evaluate metrics for completeness and correctness
  • Assess compliance with enterprise architecture, security, performance requirements, and other organizational standards
  • Develop or evaluate action plans for correction of defects and non-conformances

Product IV&V activities ensure that work products adhere to the customer’s documented methodology, to include:

  • Review typical work products of the SDLC, e.g., system requirements document, design document, coding standards, source code
  • Produce IV&V test analysis reports
  • Develop or evaluate action plans for correction of defects and non-conformances
